Privacy Policy

Last updated July 13, 2026

Family.Vote is an initiative of American Principles Project (“APP,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use family.vote (the “Site”), how we use it, and the choices you have.

By using the Site, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.

Who we are

Family.Vote is operated by American Principles Project, 2800 Shirlington Road, Suite 901, Arlington, VA 22206. If you have questions about this policy or your information, contact us at [email protected].

Information you provide to us

When you use the Site, you may provide:

  • Contact and identity details — your full name, email address, home or mailing address, and mobile phone number.
  • Household and referral information — the names, relationships, and contact details of family or household members you choose to add or invite, and information tied to a referral link you used or shared.
  • Communication preferences — whether you have opted in to email or text (SMS) updates.
  • Donation information — if and when you make a contribution, your billing details are collected and processed by our payment processor (Stripe). We do not store full payment card numbers on our systems.

Only add another person’s information if you have their permission to share it with us.

Information we collect automatically

When you visit the Site, we and our service providers may automatically collect:

  • A one-way hashed version of your IP address (combined with a rotating salt) used for security, abuse prevention, and rate-limiting — we do not retain your raw IP for analytics.
  • Device and browser information, such as your user-agent string and referring page.
  • Campaign attribution parameters (for example, UTM tags and referral codes) from the link you followed.
  • Approximate location derived from the address or ZIP code you provide, or an approximate area estimated from your connection, used to personalize content such as local registration guidance.
  • First-party usage analytics about how the Site performs and how pages are used.

How we use your information

  • To check voter-registration status and route you and your household to your state's official registration portal.
  • To let you add and invite household members and to track the referrals associated with your account.
  • To send you updates and next steps by email or text, when you have opted in.
  • To process and acknowledge donations, when applicable.
  • To operate, secure, and improve the Site, and to prevent fraud and abuse.

How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who process it on our behalf, and only as needed to run Family.Vote:

  • Database and hosting providers that store submissions securely.
  • Our customer-relationship (CRM) system, used to manage supporters and outreach.
  • Address-geocoding and elections-data providers, used to personalize local content.
  • A payment processor (Stripe), used to handle donations.
  • Email and text-messaging providers, used to deliver communications you have opted in to.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or American Principles Project.

Public activity map

If you opt in, we may display a limited, non-identifying summary of your participation on a public activity map — your first name, last initial, city, and state only. We never publicly display your full address, email, or phone number. You can decline this at signup or ask us to remove your entry at any time.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use a small number of first-party cookies:

  • A session cookie that keeps you signed in to your Family.Vote account.
  • A preview-access cookie used while the Site is in limited preview.
  • First-party analytics to understand and improve Site performance.

We do not currently use third-party advertising or tracking pixels on the Site.

How long we keep your information

We retain your information for as long as needed to provide Family.Vote and for legitimate operational, legal, and security purposes. You may ask us to delete information we are not required to keep.

Your choices and rights

  • Opt out of email or text updates at any time using the unsubscribe or STOP instructions in a message, or by contacting us.
  • Request a copy of, or the deletion of, the personal information we hold about you, subject to information we must retain for legal or security reasons.
  • Ask us to remove your entry from the public activity map.

To exercise any of these, email [email protected].

Security

We protect your information using access controls, database row-level security, one-way hashing of sensitive values, and encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

The Site is intended for eligible voters and is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
